Phileas Fogg was a rich and quiet man living in London.

He had a very strict routine.

Every day, he woke up at the same time, ate at the same time, and went to his club, the Reform Club, where he played cards.

He didn’t talk much and had no family.

People thought he was strange but respected him because he was always calm and precise.

One day, at the club, Mr. Fogg talked with his friends about travel.

A newspaper said that it was now possible to travel around the world in just eighty days.

His friends laughed and said, “It’s impossible!

You would miss your trains or your ship!” But Mr. Fogg stayed calm.

“I think it is possible,” he said.

“Do you really believe that?” asked one man.

“Yes,” Mr. Fogg replied.

“Prove it!” his friend challenged.

“I will,” said Mr. Fogg.

“I will travel around the world in eighty days.

If I fail, I will give each of you £20,000!” The men were surprised.

“You are serious?” they asked.

“Very serious,” Mr. Fogg said.

They made the bet.

It was October 2nd, 1872, and Mr. Fogg had to return to the Reform Club by December 21st at 8:45 PM.

If he didn’t, he would lose everything.

The Start of the Journey Mr. Fogg returned home and told his servant, Passepartout, about the trip.

Passepartout was a Frenchman who had just started working for Mr. Fogg.

He was shocked.

“Around the world?

In eighty days?

Are you sure?” “Yes,” said Mr. Fogg.

“Pack my bag.

We leave tonight.”

Passepartout quickly packed.

He was both excited and nervous.

They took the train to Dover, then a ship to France.

From there, their journey truly began.

Adventures in India After crossing Europe quickly by train, they reached Egypt and took a ship to India.

In Bombay (now Mumbai), Passepartout was amazed by the colorful streets, busy markets, and elephants.

But Mr. Fogg stayed focused on their goal.

While traveling by train through India, they discovered that the railway was not finished!

They had to find another way to cross the jungle.

Mr. Fogg rented an elephant and hired a guide.

Passepartout, who had never been on an elephant, held on tightly and shouted, “This is crazy!” During their journey through the jungle, they heard drums and saw a strange procession.

A young woman named Aouda was being taken to be sacrificed.

Passepartout whispered, “We must help her!” Mr. Fogg agreed.

That night, they made a daring rescue.

Passepartout disguised himself as the leader of the procession, while Mr. Fogg and the guide helped Aouda escape.

They ran through the jungle, and the angry villagers chased them, but they got away safely.

Aouda, grateful and with nowhere to go, joined them on their journey.

Challenges in Hong Kong and China Their next stop was Hong Kong.

Here, a man named Detective Fix had been following them.

Fix believed Mr. Fogg was a bank robber who had stolen £55,000 from the Bank of England.

He wanted to arrest him but couldn’t until they were on British soil again.

In Hong Kong, Passepartout got separated from Mr. Fogg while buying tickets for the next ship.

Fix found Passepartout and tricked him into drinking too much.

Passepartout fell asleep and missed the ship to Yokohama, Japan. Mr. Fogg was worried but stayed calm.

He found another way to Yokohama and was relieved to find Passepartout there.

They continued their journey together, but Passepartout was suspicious of Fix. Excitement in America After crossing the Pacific Ocean by ship, they reached San Francisco.

America was wild and full of surprises.

In one town, they saw a cowboy duel.

Passepartout shouted, “What kind of place is this?” They took a train across the United States.

The journey was not easy.

The train was attacked by Native Americans.

Passepartout fought bravely to protect Aouda and Mr. Fogg.

At one point, he was captured, but Mr. Fogg and the train guards rescued him.

Passepartout said, “This journey is too exciting for me!” Later, the train had to stop because of a broken bridge.

Mr. Fogg calmly said, “We will jump the train over the bridge.”

The passengers thought he was mad, but the engineer agreed.

Everyone held their breath as the train sped up and jumped across the broken bridge.

“We made it!” shouted Passepartout. Crossing the Atlantic Finally, they reached New York and had to catch a ship to England.

But they missed their scheduled ship!

Mr. Fogg didn’t panic.

He found a small cargo ship and persuaded the captain to take them.

When the ship ran out of coal, Mr. Fogg bought the ship and burned its wooden parts to keep the engine running.

Passepartout laughed.

“We are burning the ship to reach our goal!” The Final Race They arrived in Liverpool, England, with only hours left to reach London.

But Fix arrested Mr. Fogg, accusing him of being the bank robber.

Mr. Fogg stayed calm, but Passepartout shouted, “This is unfair!” Luckily, the real robber was caught, and Mr. Fogg was released.

They rushed to London, but when they arrived at the Reform Club, it was 8:50 PM—five minutes too late.

Mr. Fogg was heartbroken.

He thought he had lost the bet.

The next morning, Mr. Fogg discovered a mistake.

Because they traveled east, they had gained a day.

It was actually December 21st!

They still had time.

Mr. Fogg and Passepartout rushed to the Reform Club and arrived just in time.

A Happy Ending Mr. Fogg won the bet and became famous.

But he didn’t care about the money.

On the journey, he had found something more important: love.

He asked Aouda to marry him, and she said yes.

Passepartout was happy to see his master smiling.

Mr. Fogg had proven that a calm mind, determination, and a little adventure could achieve anything.
