Había una vez un gran rey llamado Teseo, el duque de Atenas.
Once upon a time, there was a great king named Theseus, the Duke of Athens.

He was a strong and brave man, known for his victories in battle.

One day, Theseus returned home to Athens with his wife, Queen Hippolyta, and her sister, Emelye.

On their way, they met a group of women crying and dressed in black.
Estas mujeres le dijeron a Teseo que sus esposos habían sido asesinados en una guerra, y el cruel rey Creón de Tebas no les permitiría enterrar los cuerpos.
These women told Theseus that their husbands had been killed in a war, and the cruel King Creon of Thebes would not allow them to bury the bodies.

She was Emelye, Queen Hippolyta’s sister.

Palamon immediately fell in love with her.

One day, a friend of Arcite came to Athens.

He spoke to Theseus and convinced him to release Arcite from the prison.

Theseus agreed, but on one condition: Arcite had to leave Athens and never return.

They fought fiercely, but before one could win, Duke Theseus arrived with his wife and Emelye. Theseus stopped the fight.
